   Perfect sediment filter. This is a really well built construction, strong material and comes with a few extra goodies. The tool (wrench) to open and close the filter housing is one of the best things for this. I have cracked a housing in the past using large pliers. The bottom drain cleaner design is a good feature so I don’t have to take the filter out as often and the extra connections are perfect if you are looking to add this to a garden hose. My area has a lot of hard water and on occasion our shower heads get clogged by little rocks. This will help stop that. Good product.

   the water bowl is surprisingly robust. The top housing is nice and thick metal, and the wrench is an appreciated inclusion. the washable filter is great and this helps immensely in my situation, where I use it to filter the water for my shop. Its nice to be able to reuse the filter and not remember to keep a supply of filter cartridges especially since my water use varies a bit more at the shop vs a household. I had fairly hard water especially relatively large bits of calcium and this has seemingly cut down on that but I will update the review if I find otherwise. So far though, it seems like a smart investment for anyone, even if you stop with just this filter. Dont expected life changing perfectly filtered water but this can help extend the life of appliances and make things like washing clothes, dishes and cars more effective.

   Very nice build quality and components. Installed inline close to point of use for our shop sinks and appliances. These are good at trapping particulates from our well water. Our well water is really good, but we have some calcium that builds up and these help reduce that issue.

   Good fittings, heavy duty and I would recommend this filter for anyone needing to reduce particulates in their water lines. Will buy again!

   OK, first the good then the bad. 1) Solid brass top … someone is thinking, plastic is totally unacceptable, plastic with inserts is unacceptable, stainless steel sounds nice but unless the threads are perfect … it will leak. 2) Thick poly shell. Great idea but mine is either deeply scratched or cracked out of the box (photo). I think it’s a deep scratch but I can’t tell. I will need to waste 45 minutes getting to a buffer, buffing it, getting home just to tell if it’s OK or junk. 3) Fittings … they tried but I can almost guarantee you will be going to the big box store for what you need. That’s not a serious fault; it’s just reality. Now for the issues. 4) Is that a crack or a scratch … I can’t tell. As is, I would never install it and find it has blown apart and done $85,000 water damage to my home. 5) INSANELY TIGHT ! They included a 4 point spanner but I couldn’t get the shell to loosen. I had to clamp it in a vice and use a steel extension bar to get it loose. You would probably tare your plumbing out of the wall if you did this “in place”. Why is it so crazy tight, continue to #6. 6) The seal and problem with the tightness is a single O-ring on the diameter of the shell. They should have included a simple flat silicon gasket between the top of the shell and the base of the brass head. A $0.20 gasket would have bought a lot of insurance and made a perfect seal. I really wanted to like this based on the description but there are some issues I can’t get past. Simple fixes but I’m tired of re-engineering everything I get anymore. If I find it’s a scratch on the shell rather than a crack, I’ll move to a 3. If it’s a crack, it’s a 1 and going into the trash.

   I’ve been wanting to get one of these for quite some time now and was pretty excited when I found it as an option on my vine account.. Our water quality is absolutely terrible, it leaves black streaks in all of our toilets, showers, and sinks.. Even when we clean them, it only takes a few days for the stains to come back. I know my towns water pipes are pretty old and outdated so I’m sure a lot of our problems come from excess sediments and other junk in the water. I’m really hoping this will help with that issue. Anyways, as far as the product goes, the quality of it seems to be very well made. The package comes with everything you need to get the job done other than plumbing tools (it does include the sediment filter wrench) and extra piping depending on how you plan to set yours up. It also includes a fairly long flexible drain tube for when that time comes. I’m pretty stoked about getting this thing setup, this is just the first part of the process, eventually I’d like to add in a 3 stage whole house filtration system behind but that’ll be later on, for now we’ll see what this guy can do!

   I have well water and we also have issues with our township constantly getting “boilwater” warnings. I’m planning on using this and other solutions to improve our water. For everything from laundry, to drinking and cooking and maybe even showers. I know this is like overkill but one of my neighbors suggested this to solve our issue with stink and particulate in the water. This is definitely not going to do all the heavy lifting but it’ll be cheaper than trying to install a household reverse osmosis setup
