This is what’s inside the black plastic shell. This filter was used for 3.5 months in a prewar building upper east side Manhattan, NYC. I don’t know what it looks like when brand new, but flow decreased after 3.5 months. Flow and taste is better with replacement. Single user and daily water drinker.

I had this filter put in when we redid our kitchen counters – this review is for the replacement cart, so not much to say – it works, easy to get in / out (just remember to turn off the cold water valve first and run the faucet to clear the line – if you don’t it will leak a little as you remove it until the valve in the filter reseals). Unlike other filters I’ve had in the past, these are fairly priced. They don’t last the 6 months they advertise (4-5 in my experience) but still the cost is fair.

This does well in filtering the water. I would give it 5 stars, but it only filters a fraction of the capacity it states. The package insert says it filters up to 11,000 gallons and should last for at last a year. However, I use it for about a gallon of drinking water per day; and after 2 months, I always have to replace it because the water starts tasting bad again. So, in addition to the hassle of having to do all that’s involved in replacing it, it’s much more expensive than I thought it would be when I decided to go with purchasing and installing the Waterdrop system.

Not a negative review, this filter works great. I had a flood of water in my kitchen, luckily we were home. The top blew off of this filter. I was upset until I realized it was a year and a half since I last bought a filter. Also, our water was shut off by the irrigation repair guy a few times. I think we may have had pressure spikes when the water came back on. Great filter, just replace as directed!

Noticeable Improvement In Water Quality and Taste Pros: Filtration is outstanding. Our water had a very strong chlorine smell. After installing the filter and letting it run for 10 minutes (per instructions) before drinking the water, we noticed the following: Water is crystal clear and tastes neutral.
