I’m giving this filter 3 stars because of the initial taste issues. For the first few weeks, the water tasted distinctly unpleasant. However, it seems the filter needed a break-in period, as the taste is now much better. It’s doing its job now, but the initial experience was definitely a drawback.

I purchased this filter for my Kitchenaide side-by-side Refrigerator/Freezer to replace the original filter. We are on RO water (highly pure) and because it removes all minerals, the water tends to taste flat. This filter remineralizes the RO water and makes it taste better. pH increased from 7.87 (slightly alkaline) to 9.84 (moderately alkaline). It adds 53 mg/liter of Calcium Carbonate to the RO water that otherwise has no trace of hardness. We will test the water again in 1-year and to see if the filter lasts or whether it needs to be replaced due to mineral depletion. Test data from RO output and refrigerator output is attached. for reference.

I picked up this filter for my Kenmore side-by-side Refrigerator/Freezer to replace the existing filter. For reference, we have a water softener that eliminates chlorine and pollutants prior to running into the fridge. I ran a test on the water quality (see attached photos) and the “Waterdrop 𝐀𝐥𝐤𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞” filtered water rated at 226, which ranks as “marginally acceptable / tap water.” I tasted the filtered water and I have to agree with the test findings – it tastes like tap water. We typically drink bottled distilled water from a national delivery service and there is no finer taste, IMO. But the Waterdrop 𝐀𝐥𝐤𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 filtered water will work for the fridge’s ice cube machine and for feeding our pets through the water dispenser on the fridge.

I just for weeks looking for a Walter filter replacement. I found the current one I was using on waterdropoutlet.com but wanted to keep looking. I eventually came across this brand. The fit was perfect, match the same model I needed. The price seemed well within range for the time frame the filter is supposed to last. After filtering out the previous one I eventually used it. I immediately tasted the difference in the water. It’s clean and crispy. The look to the water is even different than before. Unless I find another brand that’s cheaper and better than this one, I’ll be using these from now on.

After installation followed instructions on flushing for over the recommended 5 minutes and more than 3 gallons. Taste is not as good as previous Claterrans filters. Also pH alkalinity is the same as regular tap water. Checking with pH alkalinity strips. Very disappointed with this filter.
