Pros
1) next best thing to having a portable tap in the forest.
2) Gravity fed purification process is much better than squeezing a plastic bag.
3) holds a sizeable amount of water which reduces trips to the river.
4) compact and lightweight when hiking. Especially given the functionality it brings.
5) feels very durable and works well no hiccups so far.

Cons
1) if the river is low on water involves a bit of strategy to get water in the bag.
2) the tap on the hose squeezes the hose itself it’s not an issue now but it may lead to a leaks after many uses.

In summary.
Very happy with this purchase this is going to be a mandatory item on any hike I go on in future.

This is a very versatile water filter system. There are many options available to use it. I used it to filter some water from a trough I fill for deer to drink from. I have a game cam placed to watch what drinks from the trough. I had some pictures of a raccoon taking a dip in in too. Took a little nerve but I went out and got a cup of water from it and ran it thru the filter. Gulp. But it tasted just like normal water and that was a week ago and am still doing fine. I can personally attest to the ability of this filter to purify waters

We went backpacking in Georgia over a weekend and needed a filtration system for seven people. We were camping near a waterfall the first night and a stream the second night. This system worked perfectly. We used the water drop to fill water bottles, wash hands, wash dishes and fill pots for boiling/cooking. We used the tree strap with an extra hammock strap to make the water station. We mounted the water bag about 6 feet high so the hose could dangle to about 8 inches above the ground. At the base of the tree we made a surface with large flat rocks to rest pots and water bottles while they filled. Filling time was generally a few minutes because of the slow filtration. As a tip, before attaching the filter to the end of the hose, allow some water to flow through the hose so there are no vacuum air gaps. This will allow for a stream of water to flow rather than drops. Overall this product worked great.

The connector looks like it should have a gasket, but none was included in my package. I was able to reduce the dripping by wrapping tape around the connector before inserting. I was then able to filter approximately 1 gallon of lake water per minute. UPDATE: Waterdrop customer support provided a replacement unit to me that included the missing gasket. It works quite well now. I highly recommend this gravity water filter now, just be sure to test the product and verify it includes a gasket before heading into the wilderness.

Used this for the first time in the Boundary Waters NE of Ely, MN where store-bought fresh drinking water is hours away. Wilderness. This system functioned flawlessly. Although the water in those lakes is some of the cleanest in the US, we filtered 4 days worth through this filter. Odorless, colorless, and tasteless. This system works absolutely flawless. Don’t look anywhere else. This is what you want. (Can see it hanging from the tree in the left of the picture). Probably ran 10 bags of a gallon and a half each through it. It’s almost weightless to carry, water quality is 100%, and it’s about as easy to use as they get. Zero flaws.
