    Prior to ordering these water filters I always bought the GE filters for my refrigerator. They are very pricey. These filters seem identical to the more expensive filters. I can’t tell any difference in how they function.

    My built-in GE refrigerator stopped producing ice and water. The differences in the filter attachment areas may fit more products, but at what cost? I found out. The aftermarket ‘saves you money’ filter pushed a component in the filter attachment into a position where it doesn’t allow any water at all to be filtered. The amount saved by using one Waterdrop filter ended up costing almost a grand – GE only replacement part, a diagnosis visit, and then a repair visit. Why so much? The refrigerator is seven foot tall, forty-two inches wide, and nearly five hundred pounds empty, so the repair requires two appliance repair technicians to remove it from the cabinet so they can drill out the rivets – no simple screws here- panels from the back of the refrigerator, install a very expensive GE only part, re-rivet the rear panels into place, and do a ‘fair’ job re-caulking the interior panels that needed to be removed. Comments based on some of the other reviews: Less filtering means quicker glass refills- but is it consistent over the life of the filter? I have the extra couple of seconds for cleaner water. The data shared by both manufacturers is right there for even the cheapest, ahem, ‘financially efficient,’ health conscious user to see. Similar photos have been shared many times before: yes the holes are different as well as what the filter actually filters out of the water, but how many reviews have claimed that difference.

    I’ve been using these filters for a while in my GE fridge, and they seem to do just as good a job as the OEM ones, as far as taste goes anyway. I have no idea if it removes all the nasty chemicals it says it does. Without the filter, the water from my fridge tastes awful (way worse than it does straight out of the tap). With the filter installed, the water tastes great.

    Same as everyone else, once I get through my stock of fridge filters, I hit up waterdropoutlet.com to order more. First I check what I orderd last time (in this case “ClearChoice Taste”), and tehn see if I can get more/better for my money. I read the specs on this Waterdrop and decided it was a better price for teh features I wanted. I looked though the reviews and saw teh occasional problem with slow water flow. So, when I got them I looked at the hole on top (some users said it was smaller). See the pics. At first blush, it looks smaller, but if you look inside (to the black part) they are the same size where the water goes in. Same as with other filters I prefill it before installing it. Manufacturers make no mention of this, but it helps avoid all that sputtering and splashing until the air is out. Once installed, I timed the flow for 1 liter. 15 seconds in my fridge – exactly the same as the old filter (well, at least out to the second). Good enough for me. Water looks clear, and tastes ok. It is nto well water, so I’m mostly doign this becuase I think it filters out chlorine (in reality probably does not)

    Easy to install and had same (possibly better) flow as GE original filter. There were no loud vibrations like other reviews claimed. There’s a definite difference in taste between the tap and the filtered water, but I noticed no real difference between the GE Original and this filter. If I had to guess, the water had a slightly different mouth feel (?) but it may have been in my head… it felt smoother than the other. Video shows fill rate of the new filter as well as sound level (more noise filling the cup than the filter itself). I also show a comparison of the water color – basically identical. Original filter was the left cup. Would definitely buy again and highly recommend! I’ll update if my opinion changes as I use it more.
