These are good filters whick work about the same as the OEM brand@ . They will save you approximately 30% and work quite as well. Nothing not to like thus far, will come back and upgrade rating after I've been threough a season if it would change the rating!

So far, water tastes great! And the slim design works well in our fridge. I like that the spout can also detach for cleaning.

We live by the sea in an old community in an area with very high particulates in the water system. The water also smells like chlorine. We have always bought bottled water, but with the Pandemic, our grocery load started to become unmanageable as we cut down on the number of trips we made to the store. We started to drink the tap water and almost immediately decided it was time to try out a water filter. RESEARCH I did a lot of investigation, and by a long shot, the WaterDrop products represent the best designs on the market: - the forward-facing filters are as easy to replace as a refrigerator filter. - the tankless design means you don't lose much undersink space (Image1) - the tankless design also means there's no opportunity for bacteria to grow in the holding tank - the smart faucet (the led ring around the base) conveys the state of the filters - blue is good, yellow means you're due for a change and red means you should change a filter immediately - the WD-G3 display not only tells you the state of the water in Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), but also shows you the state of each of the filters (blue/yellow/red) so you know which one to order. - the brushed nickel finish matches our faucet and looks great (Image 1) - the 12 second time-to-fill an 8 oz glass is good Everything about this unit screams "quality". The instructions are simple and easy to follow. The 800 number is listed on the cover of the installation guide. Each part feels solid and well-made. INSTALLATION There is one challenge that most homeowners will probably face to using this unit -- it requires power under the sink. I had a socket under my sink that the garbage disposal was plugged into. I assumed (you can see where this is going!) that as is traditional, the upper socket was wired to the disposal switch and the lower was always hot. Unfortunately, living in an older home, this was not the case, so I had to replace the socket with a split/switched/always hot one. Our garbage disposal unit is huge, and our sink is in the corner of the kitches with one small door, so it needed to be removed to facilitate the install. Between the disposal deinstall/reinstall and and the rewiring job, installation took me all day. HOWEVER - The actual installation of the Waterdrop unit was approximately 40 minutes of this, so plan accordingly. I had one minor issue with the waste pipe connection, which is designed for 1.5" pipe (we have 2" pipes, but the pipe coming out of the garbage disposal was 1.5" with just enough space to connect the waste line). All of the lines are thoughtfully unique - there are two white lines, but of different sizes (one goes from the water source, one goes to the spigot) and the waste water is red, so you can't get confused. The connections are all pretty easy, although you should pay attention to the "Push the locking ring" instructions so you don't accidentally break one of the shipping plugs when removing them. The locking ring collars are a bit fussy and require a needle nose pliers to install. Other than my own personal challenges of a small under-sink space and the electrical issue, the installation was a breeze. WATER QUALITY So, the big question -- does it work? The answer is YES! See the second the image. I used an independent water meter to measure the TDS. On a sample from a bathroom spigot I got 99. This is pretty typical, we run around 90 to 120. Measuring the water from the filtering system shows 12. The reading on the front of the unit showed in the mid 70's during startup, but now shows 5. Given the somewhat wonky nature of water testing, I'm good with these numbers even though they differ slightly. The WD-G3 reduced the TDS in our water by an order of magnitude. This is exactly what you would expect from an RO system that should filter out about 90% of all TDS. This translates to a better tasting, safer glass of water, which it produces in about 12 seconds (8 oz). Not only does the water taste better, our coffee and anything else we used water in also tastes better. While the difference is not as evident at room temperature, you can really tell the difference in a side-to-side test of chilled water. We tested tap vs filtered vs Poland Spring bottled. At room temperature, they are all pretty much the same, with Poland Spring being slightly saltier. We tested the TDS on Poland Spring and it was at 41, confirming that there's some mineralization going on there. In chilled form, the filtered tasted the best, with Poland spring second and the unfiltered third. (And yes, to answer your question, my wife is now laughing at me because of my obsession with metrics and blind taste tests) FILTER REPLACEMENT/CUSTOMER SERVICE As some other reviewers have notes, the "CF" filter seems to be in very short supply and cannot even be purchased on the Waterdrop site. I contacted Waterdrop customer service who responded (on a weekend!) that the filters will be back in stock at the end of this month. SUMMARY Pros: - Does what it says, reduces TDS by a factor of 9-10 - Produces clear, clean water - Interface is intelligent and intuitive - Tankless design saves space and eliminates post-filter bacteria issues - Looks great - Responsive customer service Cons: - Requires un-switched power under the sink - The CF Filter replacement is currently unavailable. Recommendation: The CF shortage is worrying, hopefully Waterdrop will be able to solve this issue. It's a Pandemic so I'm willing to give them some leeway in supply chain challenges. I decided to take the plunge anyway and given the alternatives, this is still the best unit on the market.

I’ve been purchasing these filters for the past few years and they’ve been great. I love how it comes with a time strip to remind you when to change it. It’s been surprisingly accurate but I always set a reminder on my phone just in case. Definitely a great value with the 3 pack.

Can replace a RPWFE filter with some work If you are like me you bought a GE refrigerator, just to find out GE is now adopting a printer ink model for consumables. RPWFE filters are the exact same as RPWF filters. Except they are over double the price and have an RF chip. It allows GE to price gouge their customers. If you have a RPWFE filter, and want to use the cheaper RPWF filters in perpetuity you can do the following: Get a filter bypass plug. (GE offers them for free) Dremel out the section with the chip. Open the panel behind your water filter. Stick the chip in there over the RF sensor, making sure the orientation is correct. Never worry about expensive filters again. There is a message that says "Not Filtering", since the fridge thinks the bypass plug is in. Otherwise everything works fine. It was a little difficult to get the filter to seat, and I had to give it a small clockwise twist. It went in eventually though.

Easy installation, looks durable and worth the price. Hoping it lasts.

I bought this filter to replace the expensive, RFID-chipped filters that my new refrigerator uses. I chose it for several reasons including the metal construction, long filter life and relatively low cost of replacement filters. The filter came with a heavy duty wrench to loosen its retaining ring. It wasn't too difficult to remove after I realized that the ring itself rotated and not the housing. Since I had originally planned to use the filter for a refrigerator, I knew I would have to acquire extra fittings from a plumbing store. I think an improvement would be to include the option for a 1/4 inch "ice maker" connection. After hooking it up, I flushed water through it for 10 minutes. The water was clear and tasted as good as my refrigerator's original filter.

Same as everyone else, once I get through my stock of fridge filters, I hit up waterdropoutlet.com to order more. First I check what I orderd last time (in this case "ClearChoice Taste"), and tehn see if I can get more/better for my money. I read the specs on this Waterdrop and decided it was a better price for teh features I wanted. I looked though the reviews and saw teh occasional problem with slow water flow. So, when I got them I looked at the hole on top (some users said it was smaller). See the pics. At first blush, it looks smaller, but if you look inside (to the black part) they are the same size where the water goes in. Same as with other filters I prefill it before installing it. Manufacturers make no mention of this, but it helps avoid all that sputtering and splashing until the air is out. Once installed, I timed the flow for 1 liter. 15 seconds in my fridge - exactly the same as the old filter (well, at least out to the second). Good enough for me. Water looks clear, and tastes ok. It is nto well water, so I'm mostly doign this becuase I think it filters out chlorine (in reality probably does not)

Good value for money so far. I only tested it at a sink. CONS: When filled to 1.5gl line, the roll top didn't seal. I got it to seal with "~1.25gl" and an extra roll or two. The measure marks are inaccurate. I poured 1 gallon into the bag and it filled it to over an inch above the "1gl" line. The pinch valve allows some water to flow. This is probably because the hose is a little stiffer than what the clamp was designed for. The hose is a little stiff. Stiffer than a Platypus hose for example. PRO: the outlet has a check valve so you can remove the quick-disconnect hose for filling and transport. It didn't leak. The strap seems good and it has swivels on the hooks. I got this to replace a 3 liter bag that only had a small opening. I could only ever get it half full in shallow water so I had to make at least 2 trips to the water source. This new bag should allow me to fill it in shallow water once and have enough to fill my drinking bladder and use at camp with only one trip to the source. I'll update this review when I get more experience. UPDATE: I used this backpacking and it worked well. Turns out I still need to use my pot to scoop water into the bag in shallow water. But the large opening, handle, and large volume are good. I have also replaced the hose with a softer hose to solve the pinch valve from leaking. I reused the fitting it came with.

DO NOT BUY. Works fine, but when it comes time to replace a filter- forget about it, you can’t. I’ve purchased 3 times (2 for myself, 1 for a friend) and all 3 times have not been able to replace the water filter because it gets jammed. waterdropoutlet.com stated I needed to contact the company to get a refund, I’ve contacted their customer support and they have made a long laundry list of request that I submit to possibly get a refund…

This filter is very good, the water is soft and free of chlorine taste and smell and dirt. This is the most important thing I value about this filter. I recommend it!!

Update: Aug.23.20, I have been putting off giving a new update on hopes that the filter would taste better after this time taking 3 gallons worth of water, (I used a 1gal water jug to measure) and not have the sediment that I've noticed in the past after putting water in a stove pot to boil, which hadn't happened before with bottle water. The verdict is better water quality than before, just not the kind of water quality that is expect from a refrigerator water filter, still with a few bits of sentiment left after boiling water. So it's a thumbs down for me. 👎👎 (For reference, I had an original GE filter installed). Original: Received water filter in the middle of June 2020. After installing, I took about 1-2 gallons out worth of water. Though it still wasn't tasting great like purified water, I took another 1 qrt of water out. Ice maker worked fine, but still the water has a semi tap water taste, although taste better than tap water. I was able to see some type of micro scopic sediment. (It could have been tiny bubbles circulating?) Last night I decided that I would stick to using the fridge filter water only for heating on the stovetop for tea or coffee. After heating the water on the stove and pouring out the water from the pot, I noticed that the bottom of the pot was dusty (after about 30min). I started thinking why this has happened? I remember washing the pot clean in the kitchen sink before preparing for tea, so I knew that it wasn't caused by a dirty stove pot. The only culprit had to be the water from the filter. Needless to say, I'm pretty disappointed. I was gonna try and contact the seller, but I believe I'm past the return date as well. (Sigh)

I have received the filter with no damage. Reading other reviewers I noticed that may be a concern. Great to have I replace my water pitcher every 4 months with one of these so I always have refreshing water. It’s worlds of a difference to have filtered water vs non filtered and this one works! Well worth the price you’ll be able to filter your tap water for months.

We have an insta hot dispenser hooked up to it as well and it all works great and the mineral filter.

Not a negative review, this filter works great. I had a flood of water in my kitchen, luckily we were home. The top blew off of this filter. I was upset until I realized it was a year and a half since I last bought a filter. Also, our water was shut off by the irrigation repair guy a few times. I think we may have had pressure spikes when the water came back on. Great filter, just replace as directed!
