To begin, I live in an apartment with a standard faucet. The installation was straight forward. Be sure to FOLLOW the directions carefully. The unit seems flimsy but time will tell. The system is not designed to swivel from what I noticed. If you do try to swivel the unit, the plastic threaded piece will likely loosen and wear down against the metal thread on the faucet then leak and/or pop off. If it were cost effective, I would recommend that the manufacturer replace these fittings with a metal one, unfortunately this will likely raise the cost. So far the water tastes better than the PUR I had. Will report after the first filter change and update my rating. I also can't register for filter change reminders on the website provided. More to come..., UPDATE 09/05/2019 As expected; the plastic tap adapter failed. Fortunately the customer service is great and a metal tap adapter is on the way. Overall, still a great product.

You need to reuse the RFID sticker hidden under the factory sticker on a factory XWFE cartridgde. Look at your used up XWFE cartridge you are about to replace. If you look carefully you can see tge RFID underneight. Look for a silver circle with verticle lines under it. It is fairly large and if you look you will find it. Step 1 use a heat gun or hair dryer on a medium or low setting and carefully unglue one edge of the factory sticker. Use a thin flat edge such as a butter knife to carefully peel it back. GO SLOW AND CAREFUL NEATNESS COUNTS! Pull the whole sticker off in one peice as complete as possible. STEP 2 On the fridge directly behind where the cartridge would be is a flat pannel with a QR code to order factory filter cartridges. TAKE YOU FACTORY STICKER WITH THE RFID and tape it right center as shown. STEP 3 TEST. The reused RFID sticker likely will read 0% but disregard that. What you want to do is test how fast the water dispenses. On a old filter the water barwly dribbles out. The replacement should flow water real nice. IN FACT TAKE CARE AS THE FIRST BLAST WILL COME HEAVY DUE TO AIR IN THE LINE FROM CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT. In the future whenbthe water dribbles out slow, ice made slow replace the filter. LEAVE THE STICKER IN PLACE. STEP 4. Enjoy and save $$$

They make a whining sound of you don’t unhook your water first. You almost sent them back until I discovered this. We have a Bosche Fridge.

We DIY’d the replacement install of this upgraded whole house water filtration system. No fitting/adapters are included, normal practice, as everyone’s situation is unique. The instructions did not specify a preferential material type of fitting adapter/s. Just that the system was a 1” female and in our case we needed to adapt to 3/4” home pex plumbing. The first 2 times attempting install, we used metal adapter/fittings, both times the system leaked. The metal also caused the female threaded area in the unit, to shed a small amount of plastic with each install. First install attempt we used plumber’s tape wrapped around male threads 10 times, as the instructions recommended. For the second install attempt, we used plumber’s putty, it still leaked. Determined to stop the leaking, I searched on you tube for install video’s. One video showed this exact system and they used polypropylene adapter fitting. So here on waterdropoutlet.com, I found a heavy duty polypropylene hose fitting that adapted from the 1” to 3/4” (Banjo HB100-075 Polypropylene adapter). They worked great with both the system and our Pex plumbing. Used a heat gun to soften the Pex, then pushed the Pex into the barbed 3/4” end. Allowed it to cool down. On the adapter’s male threaded end, we applied plumber’s putty to the threads, added 4-5 turns of plumber’s tape and ended with a thin layer of more plumber’s putty, (over top of the tape). The putty helped the plumber’s tape to adhere much better than usual. We then ended with a small amount of plumber’s putty over top of the tape. In the system housing on the 1” female thread area, we applied a small amount of plumber’s putty. After hand installing the fitting adapter into the unit, we used a metal adjustable wrench to tighten it down. It took “3rd times a charm” but we are now very happy with this system. We have a high iron content (16ppm) and so far, the system seems to be working out great!! It is much better than the single unit we replaced. If I can figure it out, I will update this review on how long these filters last. If they don’t last long enough, I will upgrade to the better filters available. This will help extend time between filter replacements. Just a side note: I also learned from the YouTube video, to use a “food grade” lubricant/grease on the large O-rings. It will allow less friction on the ring, therefore allowing the ring to last longer. There are two O-rings on each filter casing. The top one comes off easy, so the whole ring could be coated. The bottom ring is tight, so I did not remove it. I applied the lubricant just on the exposed part of this O-ring. Hope this information makes everyone’s install experience so much easier. Use polypropylene fittings/adapters ONLY, NOT METAL!! Also use both the combination of plumber’s putty and tape!!

Worked perfectly with my Sawyer Mini, no adapter needed. Way easier than bottles to bottles filtering.

This is with two of these filters having the same problem. I ran over 15 gallons through each filter and never could bet the black crud to clear. Ended up returning both and just getting the correct GE filter. Ran less that two gallons through the GE filter and it was perfect on clear. Not sure what is going on as I have used these in the past without issue.

Easy to install and value for the price The instructions very helpful

We went backpacking in Georgia over a weekend and needed a filtration system for seven people. We were camping near a waterfall the first night and a stream the second night. This system worked perfectly. We used the water drop to fill water bottles, wash hands, wash dishes and fill pots for boiling/cooking. We used the tree strap with an extra hammock strap to make the water station. We mounted the water bag about 6 feet high so the hose could dangle to about 8 inches above the ground. At the base of the tree we made a surface with large flat rocks to rest pots and water bottles while they filled. Filling time was generally a few minutes because of the slow filtration. As a tip, before attaching the filter to the end of the hose, allow some water to flow through the hose so there are no vacuum air gaps. This will allow for a stream of water to flow rather than drops. Overall this product worked great.

The filter is straight forward and easy to use, water is clean crisp and refreshing!

These water filtration straws seem to be made well. They are easy enough to use, and can even be attached to a bottle of water. They are easy to carry along and i definitely think they are a necessity for hikers that don’t want to carry much.

I've installed water filters under almost all of our bathroom sinks in our house to provide filtered water without having to run back to the kitchen. Since we're on city water, the filtering is just to remove the chlorine taste of the water--there's no need for filtering sediment, etc. All of the filters take the standard 2-1/2" x 10" water filters, so when we do change the filters, we need a mess of them. At the big orange or blue box stores, these filters aren't cheap, so when I saw these filters, I thought they looked like a pretty good deal for a four pack. We aren't yet at the point where we need to change out the filters, but I am pretty confident that these will work just fine for our needs. What I like about these filters as compared to others that I've bought in the past is that they've thoughtfully included a couple sheets of stickers that you can use to indicate what month the filter was changed/is due for a change. That's a nice touch! They were also well packaged in a sturdy box with foam packaging on both ends to cradle them from the insults and injuries that packages suffer these days at the hands of the delivery companies. When I do swap these filters in, if they don't do their jobs, I will be sure to update my review.

Bought this filter to use on our kitchen sink because we are on well water. To see if the filter actually filters like it says we tested the water. In the photo, we tested two unfiltered faucets and the faucet with the Waterdrop filter. For control, we made sure all faucets were turned to COLD water and we ran the filtered faucet for 10 min to ensure any contamination in the faucet was flushed out. Well water test was purchased on waterdropoutlet.com from AquaVial. Results: after following the test’s instructions we are happy to say that all water passed the 48 hour test and deemed safe to use. HOWEVER, the interesting results happened on day 3 onward. The test says disregard results after 48hrs and that even small amounts of dead bacteria can trigger a change. On day 3, the two vials containing unfiltered water started to change to light pink from yellow which yellow means the water is good. We were surprised to see that even 7 days later the vial containing filtered water from the Waterdrop 0.01 micron filter still has remained unequivocally yellow. It has not changed color since the first day and counting. Because of this, it is clear based on tests that the Waterdrop filter is highly effective. We recommend everyone who is concerned about their water to use this filter as a big step closer to safer water.

Ok so many of the reviews say they fit well. That is true. However, to actually review this product compared to the OEM (Frigidaire) version it is inferior. First thing out of the box was that the perforation was poorly cut and the "cover" came off in 3 pieces resulting in the tears seen in the pictures. Secondly was the actual carbon surface area vs the OEM. In the pics you see my 10 month old OEM on the right next to the brand new Watermark on the left. Notice 2 things: the number of bends 15 on WM vs 20 OEM and also notice the number of visible crystals ... substantially more after 10 months of use compared to the new WM. Long story short if you want to feel good to have some new cardboard in your likely pricey fridge ($1000+if it uses these) then buy these, if you want actual carbon avoid dealing with the return I will be making and buy the real thing.

I did quite a bit of research before buying this specific unit as it's filters look to be (2nd hand info here) the best overall at filtering everything that is being tested. I have a well and it does a great job of killing the metallic flavor that I get with the high rust content. I specifically use this filter for my cooking water and it's been amazing to cook pasta that actually tastes normal without having to buy gallon jugs of bottled water. I am planning to replace the spout on the filter with the plastic model from another vendor as a precaution. I have not read of any issues with the metal spout on this particular model, but many of the other clones do not use food safe metals in their spouts which eventually corrode. I have the new one on order. Given the price of this unit, the extra $30 for a plastic spout to make me feel better is a drop in the bucket of how much I saved. BTW, if you own a Berkey which you may not be able to get filters for soon due to their legal troubles, the filters for this unit fit in the Berkey and are significantly less expensive (as well as better as they actually pass basic water safety testing). Best of luck!
